Rare Book About Winemaker Martin Ray Once Again Available
Aptos, CA (PRWEB) July 15, 2006
The third edition of Vineyards in the Sky: The Life of Legendary Vintner Martin Ray by Eleanor Ray and Barbara Marinacci, will be available for purchase at the end of July 2006. This high-demand book has been out of print since mid-2005. Evidence of its popularity include the facts that a review of the book previously published in Wines and Vines is for sale on Amazon.com and that the cost of used editions is about .
According to Anthony Dias Blue, a nationally syndicated wine columnist, “This small-press publication…is a gripping memoir that reads like a ‘major’ novel….Following Prohibition and under the tutelage of Paul Masson, Ray championed the varietal concept….Ray insisted on producing pure varietal wines from premium grapes.”
Martin Ray owned Paul Masson’s Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California from the mid 1930s to the early 1940s, creating pure varietal wines that received high world-wide acclaim. After selling the winery to Seagram, Ray purchased the land at the top of Table Mountain in Saratoga and began again. His winery, which he lost in a lawsuit to his partners, is now Mt. Eden winery. Ray died in 1976, leaving a legacy of quality and honesty in winemaking.
Published by Mountain Vines Publishing, LLC, which produces other fine books on regional wineries, this 456-page book contains black-and-white photographs of Martin Ray’s life, the wine business and the heritage of Paul Masson. Barbara Marinacci has updated the book since the last edition.
Books can be purchased on Mountain Vines Publishing’s website, http://www.MountainVinesPub.com, at outlets near the Santa Cruz Mountains in California, and at the Martin Ray Winery in Sonoma County, California. They will also be available on Amazon.com in the near future.

Harmon and White Publishing LLC Announced Today the Release of their First Book – The Good Life, A Chris Garrett Novel – A Vacation in Napa Valley
Napa Valley, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2007
Harmon and White Publishing announced today the release of their first book “The Good Life – A Chris Garrett Novel”
“The forecast for the Napa Valley is buoyant with a great chance of laughter. When the weather threatens to dampen your day, this book is the perfect remedy.” — Spencer Christian, ABC Weather Anchor and avid wine enthusiast
A Vacation in Napa Valley! Have you ever wanted to escape it all and go live in wine country? Make award-winning wine, maybe fall in love? Or maybe just visit, but can’t seem to find the time? Now the wine country comes to you in The Good Life, A Chris Garrett Novel by David G. White, a fictional story about a winemaker whose winemaking skills are put to the ultimate test — solving a murder.
It’s harvest season, the most exciting time of year for winemaker Chris Garrett and also the busiest, where working long hours is the rule, not the exception. So when his mentor legendary winemaker Vic Miranda is found floating face down in a vat of fermenting wine, everyone assumes the drowning was an accident caused fatigue and overwork.
That’s the official line. But like badly made wine, Chris just can’t swallow it. Vic was too experienced. He must have been pushed into that vat. Only who did the pushing? With help from his friend Deputy Sheriff Jeff Beckwell, Chris investigates on his own, but poking your nose into other people’s business much like finding flaws in a highly touted cult cab is usually resented, and soon Chris is fending off accusations, threats and even an attempt on his life.
Who could want Chris dead? And does it have anything to do with Vic’s illicit love affair? Or was it more about the questionable land deal Vic was involved in? And who is the alluring woman in the red dress that is so curious about Vic’s death — and Chris’s interest in it?
Can highly honed winemaking skills help Chris detect the clues into why his mentor was murdered? Perhaps it’s those very skills that will make it possible for Chris to solve the mystery.
This 272 page hardcover book is case bound and sewn, with gold foil stamping on both the spine and front, colored end leafs, embossed lettering on the gloss laminated dust jacket and printed on acid free paper.
